A Permission Slip System That Prevents Missed Deadlines
A form that spends twelve days in a backpack is not a motivation failure. It is a handoff failure.
Use a four-stop route
Every permission slip should travel through the same four stops: school inbox, action folder, shared calendar, and return spot. Do not create a special hiding place for forms that require payment.
- Write the due date and owner on the form.
- Add the deadline and event to the shared calendar.
- Complete or pay it during the weekly reset.
- Place it in a visible return spot or directly in the backpack.
Make ownership visible
When two caregivers assume the other person is handling a form, the system has no owner. Put initials beside the calendar entry and confirm the handoff aloud or by message.
Close the loop
A signed form on the counter is still unfinished. The route ends only when the paper is back in the correct bag or submitted through the school portal.
